One of the biggest questions we get is whether our nursing program is an accredited nursing program. There are several accredited online nursing schools available throughout the country, and we understand the need for accreditation. For one, the appropriate accreditation many times gives those who wish to move on to a further level of education the ability to do so.

First and foremost though, accreditation provides assurance that the program in which you are enrolled or are considering enrolling is engaged in continuous review and improvement of its quality, that it meets nationally endorsed standards in the profession, and that it is accountable for achieving what it sets out to do.

Because we feel that nursing education should be given the highest accreditation possible, our program has regional accreditation by the National League of Nursing; regional accreditation is considered the "gold" standard for accreditation, and it is why we feel that we can offer one of the best online nursing schools that create quality BSN Nurses.

For those of you that have researched BSN programs in San Diego, accelerated nursing programs, or even just nursing programs in general across the country, you've probably ran into a word that not many people like: impacting.

Impacting can be defined as the ratio of applicants to spaces available in a given program; for nursing programs in San Diego, California nursing schools as a whole, and many other places around the country, impacting is normally quite a concern, because generally there are many more people looking to start a nursing program as opposed to spaces available. It's no secret that nurses in San Diego are a huge need, and the nursing shortage across the country has brought about many expanded traditional programs as well as new online nursing schools. Still, impacting remains a chief barrier to entrance into even the best online nursing schools.

At the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program, impacting is something that we have taken into consideration with our nursing education. For one, we offer three start dates per year, giving more access to many more people to get their nurse training. We also do not have waiting lists; our normal process is that individuals who are applying for a specific start are pooled together, and out of the pool of applicants, we take the best 72-80 students per start. Those individuals who would not be accepted in our accelerated nursing program for that session would then have the ability to re-apply for the next start, where the same process would occur.

The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program offers accelerated bachelor of science nursing degrees to those who have a bachelor degree in a non-nursing field or those that are currently RNs who would like to achieve their bachelor of science nursing degree. Our program has been associated with Sharp HealthCare since 2005, and we have always been impressed with the consistent commitment to quality and innovation from the team in San Diego.  We were elated to learn that Sharp recently received the Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award recently.  For more information about the award, you can visit here.

The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program, right within the Sharp system, is another example of quality in action.  Sharp recognized a need for BSN programs in San Diego, and worked with us to bring in the accelerated BSN.  There are many excellent California nursing schools, and Sharp remains committed to all of them.  The OU program is incremental to what Sharp has always done in the San Diego area.

Graduates of our program receive an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and will be eligible to work as nurses in San Diego (hopefully with Sharp HealthCare).  Our nursing program again demonstrates the commitment to quality that Sharp HealthCare demonstrated in winning the Baldrige Award.
