One of the biggest questions we get is whether our nursing program is an accredited nursing program. There are several accredited online nursing schools available throughout the country, and we understand the need for accreditation. For one, the appropriate accreditation many times gives those who wish to move on to a further level of education the ability to do so.
First and foremost though, accreditation provides assurance that the program in which you
are enrolled or are considering enrolling is engaged in continuous review and
improvement of its quality, that it meets nationally endorsed standards in the
profession, and that it is accountable for achieving what it sets out to do.
Because we feel that nursing education should be given the highest accreditation possible, our program has regional accreditation by the National League of Nursing; regional accreditation is considered the "gold" standard for accreditation, and it is why we feel that we can offer one of the best online nursing schools that create quality BSN Nurses.
If you are interested in pursing nursing programs in San Diego, CA, then we may be just what you are looking for. California nursing schools are certainly some of the best out there, and with the University of Oklahoma being directly available in our site there, we feel that the nurse education online we offer can give you a jump start to your nurse career and also boost the healthcare population to give quality nurses in San Diego.
If you have further questions about our program, please visit our website at http://ounursing.com/ or call us at 1-888-696-8276. We'd be happy to answer any questions you have about our nursing program and hope to hear from you soon to get you started on earning a bachelor of science nursing degree!

The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program constantly strives to be one of the best online nursing schools, and we want to give those in search of nursing education the most viable options available. Nursing schools typically require that in order to be accepted into a program in which you can earn a bachelor of science nursing degree, you need certain prerequisite classes to be eligible.
Our nursing program is no exception to that rule; our accelerated nursing program requires 11 classes prior to application be completed and posted to a college transcript with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA. The non-science classes are as follows: English Composition I and II, Statistics, Nutrition, US History, US Government, and Developmental Psychology. The science classes require at least 4 hours due to the lab component that is involved and are as follows: General Chemistry, Microbiology, Human Anatomy, and Human Physiology. (This is just for the ABSN Second Degree Program--our RN to BSN program is different).
You should understand that while some of these prerequisites are general in nature, there are specific things that our admissions looks for within these core prerequisites. So you may be asking--How am I to know if mine are good to go? Well, we have a solution for you! Even though we are the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program--we have offices in San Diego and admissions counselors within them! If you are looking to get into a San Diego Nursing Program and have looked through San Diego nursing schools, consider giving our nurse training program a look!
If you'd like to see about setting up a time to talk to our admissions counselors or have questions about your prerequisites, we'd love to hear from you! If you are ready to get a jump start on your nursing career, give us a call at 1-888-696-8276 or send us an email at info@ounursing.com. We look forward to getting you on the road to your online nursing bachelors degree!

The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program's Accelerated Nursing Program takes 14 months to complete for second degree seekers. For this type of speedy nurse training, we have two components of the program: online education for nurses, and the clinical aspect of the nurse education. These are completed concurrently so you can get your bachelor of science nursing degree as fast as possible!
In terms of time spent for the San Diego BSN program, you will spend approximately 600 hours with the online theory portion and about 870 hours of the clinical aspect. We understand that you want to get a jump start on your nurse career--and so as you can see, that's a lot of time within 14 months spent in our online nursing school. So, we get the question "Can I still work while in your nursing program?" quite a bit.
There is no definite answer to this, however, as this very much depends on the individual. With the time listed above, you can count on at least 2-3 days a week, averaging approximately 12-16 hours a week in the clinical portion, and we give you at least one semester in advance notice of when and where you'll be doing your live nurse training. As the clinicals are done in live Sharp Healthcare environments with other nurses in San Diego, it's important to remember that these clinicals can be scheduled during the day or night, any day of the week. Along with the reading and online theory work you will complete towards your online nursing bachelors degree, this is a very intensive, aggressive program, so it is important that while you may be able to continue to work, this nursing program does demand more of a full-time commitment.
Our RN to BSN San Diego program is a bit different than the 14 month ABSN, so if you are currently an RN looking to get your BSN and would like to know how this is different, please give us a call at 1-888-696-8276 or visit us online at http://ounursing.com for more information on obtaining your RN Bachelors degree.

The deadline for applications for the fall semester for the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program is June 1, 2008. You will need to make sure all of your paperwork, including college transcripts and all other materials, is in by that day. This nursing program is top notch -- and one of the few accelerated BSN programs offered in San Diego.
We are also taking application for the RN to BSN program ("Career Ladder"). This nine month program allows RNs to earn a BSN online, with clinicals at Sharp HealthCare in San Diego.
If you're looking at nursing schools in San Diego, there are many options -- and almost all are excellent. We hope your search includes www.ounursing.com also. Please call 888.MY.OU.BSN for more information.

One of the main stipulations for entry into our accelerated nursing program is that the student needs to have either a bachelor degree in a non-nursing field or an associate degree with RN licensure. As an accredited nursing program, it is required that our students have this minimum qualification.
But what if this degree is from outside of the United States? Will it still qualify to get the online nursing bachelors degree? Can it be used to apply for our accelerated BSN San Diego program? Well--yes it can--but with another stipulation. Because degrees from outside of the country have different minimum requirements for achieving the degree, the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program requires that the degree be evaluated by a company called WES (World Education Services). They can be found online at www.wes.org. This is the only institution that the University will take evaluations from, so if you have had an evaluation done by a different company, it will need to be re-evaluated by WES prior to admission for equivalency to go for our bachelor of science nursing degree.
After you've attained the evaluation from WES and it has been equivocated to at least a bachelor degree in the US, we'll be able to then discuss how you can get a jump start on your nurse career. If you are looking for one of the best online nursing schools and are interested as well in California nursing schools, look no further than our accelerated nursing program, where you can potentially join other BSN nurses in 14 months, or if you are a current RN looking for a RN program that you can get an online nursing bachelors degree in as little as 9 months.

This is a phrase we often hear about our accelerated BSN program in San Diego. While nursing education online is generally faster than the traditional nurse training, some times the thought of being in an online nursing school from start to finish in just 14 months for our second degree accelerated nursing program can seem daunting.
And yes--it is fast! RN programs in San Diego as well as even the best online nursing schools across the country have made it so that individuals who want to have the nurse training done quickly CAN--and the fact that we offer a program that gives individuals a chance to be BSN Nurses in a little over the year--sometimes this raises question of quality or accreditation. We understand concerns about this.
First off, we are an accredited nursing program; our accreditation includes the California Board of Nursing as well as the Oklahoma Board of Nursing; we also hold a regional accreditation through the National League of Nursing. So while it may be hard to believe that the online education for nurses can be done with our program in 14 months--and for that are seeking online RN to BSN schools--we can offer this to licensed RNs in as little as 9 months!
But what about quality? You want it, you got it! The University of Oklahoma has long been regarded as one of the cutting-edge nursing programs in the country, and our average first board NCLEX pass rates for those that have gone through the program is a little over 91%--compare that to the national average of 88%!
If getting a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from a quality, accredited nursing program is what you are seeking, we'd like for you to consider the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program. Please visit our website at http://ounursing.com today or give us a call at 888-696-8276. We'll be happy to help you on your path for nursing education!

For those of you that have researched BSN programs in San Diego, accelerated nursing programs, or even just nursing programs in general across the country, you've probably ran into a word that not many people like: impacting.
Impacting can be defined as the ratio of applicants to spaces available in a given program; for nursing programs in San Diego, California nursing schools as a whole, and many other places around the country, impacting is normally quite a concern, because generally there are many more people looking to start a nursing program as opposed to spaces available. It's no secret that nurses in San Diego are a huge need, and the nursing shortage across the country has brought about many expanded traditional programs as well as new online nursing schools. Still, impacting remains a chief barrier to entrance into even the best online nursing schools.
At the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program, impacting is something that we have taken into consideration with our nursing education. For one, we offer three start dates per year, giving more access to many more people to get their nurse training. We also do not have waiting lists; our normal process is that individuals who are applying for a specific start are pooled together, and out of the pool of applicants, we take the best 72-80 students per start. Those individuals who would not be accepted in our accelerated nursing program for that session would then have the ability to re-apply for the next start, where the same process would occur.
The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program offers accelerated bachelor of science nursing degrees to those who have a bachelor degree in a non-nursing field or those that are currently RNs who would like to achieve their bachelor of science nursing degree. If you are interested in learning more about this San Diego nursing program and be on the fast track to your nurse career, give us a call at 1-888-696-8276 or email us at info@ounursing.com. Our program has been associated with Sharp HealthCare since 2005, and we have always been impressed with the consistent commitment to quality and innovation from the team in San Diego. We were elated to learn that Sharp recently received the Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award recently. For more information about the award, you can visit here.
The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Program, right within the Sharp system, is another example of quality in action. Sharp recognized a need for BSN programs in San Diego, and worked with us to bring in the accelerated BSN. There are many excellent California nursing schools, and Sharp remains committed to all of them. The OU program is incremental to what Sharp has always done in the San Diego area.
Graduates of our program receive an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and will be eligible to work as nurses in San Diego (hopefully with Sharp HealthCare). Our nursing program again demonstrates the commitment to quality that Sharp HealthCare demonstrated in winning the Baldrige Award.
